Horse and Canine Popsicles!

Don't know about all of my readers areas but here in the midwest we are under a Heat Advisory for the next 3 days! Here's something to keep your K9's and Equine's hydrated - we freeze 5 gallon buckets and smaller containers:

Equines - I mix up enough water with a little electrolyte or kooleaid to make 6 inches of water to freeze, I then cut up fruit (apples, watermelon rin......d, carrots) and put in the bucket and add more of the water mix about 6 - 10 inches of water and then freeze, I finish with another 6 inches of water with more fruit. I keep going until we have a frozen fruit popsicle!! Or you can make smaller ones for stalls which we also do.

Canine's - do the same but use beef boulion flavored water, freeze and add some cut up hot dogs, beef jerky, and pop out and watch them go after it!You may have to make several - our horses now fight over their popsicles as do our dogs - they don't share well!See MoreSee More

Bounce this Along.......

My friend Kelly passed this on to me when I suggested to her to put a bounce sheet on her person to keep Mosquitos from liking her so much. We use them around the barn and on trail rides. I even have them in the trailer - they will keep mice out of things as well. We like the scent but bugs and rodents do not. I also use Skin So Soft which will work for some but not for others. It works great as a Fly spray - I have a recipe using fly spray and skin so soft that keeps my guys from stomping their feet all day long.

A mail carrier said that the U.S. Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away. Use them all the time when around horses. Use them when working outside. The insects just veer around you. All this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling..
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan..
14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.
22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe lovebugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

Thrifty Frugal Tip - Sweet Smelling Pets without shampooing

Thrifty Frugal Tip - for I am a Money Magnet's Thrifty Tip Tuesday Post.

Does your dog smell, well, like a dog? Do you hate giving your dog a bath? Does he/she hate getting baths?

Did you know that over bathing can cause dry skin? Well, it does which causes your dog to itch more which in turn causes more dander that you have to sweep up.

Here is a trick to extend the times between bathing. Not only is this easy to mix up it is so Frugally cheap and out performs the branded stuff!

Find an empty shaker bottle (I use a small coffee can w/lid and I've punched small holes in it) - and put this in the shaker bottle - Mix well - 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup Cornstarch. Now if you want a little smell to it and you have some dried rosemary or mint add this to the mix and mix well or you can add some essential oil like rose, lavender, or vanilla. Just be sure you mix it WELL before putting it in your shaker. Now take your doggie outside or somewhere where you can easily clean up and shake this over his coat. Lightly rub into the coat and then brush out - do not over shake the mix onto your dog - just lightly dust him. This will deodorize him without stripping his coat of all the oils plus it lifts dirt up so you can brush it out!

This stuff will last forever - just keep adding to it at the ratio of 1 : 1 and mixing it well.

If your dog is long haired, I recommend doing this in sections at a time. I use our Furminator when I do this and you would not believe the results!
